Indigenous Engagement & Participation

Our commitment

While Australia and New Zealand have different histories in relation to Indigenous peoples, what we share is an obligation to acknowledge Indigenous peoples and their history, and to celebrate and empower the rich culture these groups bring to our communities and workplaces.

Most important to our commitments is a foundation of long-term relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Māori and Pasifika communities, organisations and businesses. By establishing these connections, we can listen and identify meaningful ways to work together to improve outcomes for employees, passengers and communities in which we operate.

Acknowledgements

Kinetic acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work, live and move people every day in Australia. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present, and acknowledge that the sovereignty of the land we know as Australia has never been ceded.

In Aotearoa (New Zealand), Kinetic acknowledges ngā iwi ō Māori as the tangata whenua and their rich contribution to society.

Reconciliation in Australia

Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), launched in 2025 at our Coomera depot, on the lands of the Yugambeh speaking peoples, provides the foundations for Kinetic to establish meaningful long-term relationships with First Nations communities in the areas in which we operate and contribute to reconciliation in a structured, relevant, and respectful way.

Targeting First Nations Drivers

Moving the Mob

Launched in 2023 on Gimuy Country (Cairns), Moving the Mob is our flagship First Nations recruitment and training program. The program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in obtaining their bus licence and finding employment within a culturally supportive environment.

We're expanding this program to include apprenticeships and traineeships, creating diverse career pathways for Indigenous Australians.
