Where We Move People

From Australasia to the UK, Europe & Asia

We started out operating buses in Melbourne, Australia. Now our network moves people by bus and rail across major cities and regional communities globally.

You'll find Kinetic buses in most Australian states with community partnerships to deliver services supporting major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Hobart, as well as regional centres.

We also proudly operate the iconic SkyBus express services connecting people with airports in Melbourne and Hobart, as well as specialist services for the resources sector and general bus hire & charter services nationally.

In New Zealand, Kinetic delivers public bus services in major cities including Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Tauranga, and contracted school services across the country.

Kinetic is also the majority owner of Go-Ahead, which operates bus and rail services in the UK, Europe & Singapore. This includes a quarter of London's buses and 25% of rail journeys in the UK.

Partnerships & capability

Modernising Melbourne's buses

As part of our 9.5-year Metropolitan Bus Franchise contract, we're helping the Victorian Government modernise Melbourne's bus experience and deliver benefits to the whole community.

We proudly operate one third of the city's bus network, which includes 50 bus routes, 531 buses and a team of 1100 passionate people.

We're supporting Victoria's transition to zero-emission vehicles by introducing 36 fully electric buses to the network by 2025. We're also delivering improved diversity and inclusion for the franchise.

Partnerships & capability

Operating a quarter of UK rail

Through Go-Ahead we operate public rail transport in the UK across the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR). This includes Great Northern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express and Southern, accounting for 24% of all UK rail journeys.

The network itself covers major London terminals, such as London Victoria, London Bridge and London St Pancras, as well as extending the network as far north as King’s Lynn and south to Brighton.

GTR, alongside our rail partners, has brought in new infrastructure technology, trains and an expanded Thameslink network, which is delivering a step-change in customer experience.
