We began in 1978 with Melbourne’s Skybus – a cost efficient, reliable airport transfer service. Today, we manage a global bus and rail network. But we've never lost sight of what matters to our people, passengers and communities.
Kinetic was born and bred in Melbourne, Australia operating the world-class SkyBus airport express service.
By caring for our people, our customers and the community, and placing customers at the heart of everything we do, we grew our operations across Australia and New Zealand winning competitive bus contracts and acquiring businesses which aligned with our core values and growth strategy.
Today Kinetic is a globally recognised transport network across Australasia, the UK, Europe & Asia with bus and rail operations keeping people moving and cities and communities connected.
We are Australasia's biggest bus network, with over 100 long-term contracts in local communities, a team of 7400 passionate people and a fleet of 5000 buses, including 200 zero emission buses.
In Australia we operate one third of Melbourne's bus network, over 40% of all bus operations throughout Queensland, and we proudly deliver government contracted bus services across Tasmania.
Across New Zealand you’ll find a Kinetic bus delivering urban services in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington among other key cities. Through Go Bus, our specialist school bus provider, we also deliver school services across the country for the NZ Ministry of Education.
Our business transformed in 2021 when we acquired UK-based international transport group Go-Ahead as a joint venture with Spanish company Globalvia.
Go-Ahead operates rail and bus services across the UK, Europe & in Singapore. They're responsible for a third of all rail trips in the UK, operating the Govia Thameslink rail link, which is the largest and most complex rail system in the country. Go-Ahead also operates a quarter of London's buses, and regional bus services throughout the UK.
As we look to the future, we're focused on accelerating our sustainability agenda. Our strategy prioritises moving people, moving lightly and moving forward.
What does this mean? We're targeting 50% women in our workplace by 2030, net zero emissions by 2035, and gold-level status in our approach to LGBTQI+ inclusion and allyship.
