Kinetic, Australasia’s largest bus operator, has today proudly announced the launch of its Innovate-level Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking a step forward in the company's ongoing reconciliation journey in Australia.

Building on the foundations established through its previous Reflect-level RAP launched in 2021, the Innovate-level RAP outlines specific actions and deliverables that Kinetic will implement over the next two years to deepen its engagement with First Nations communities and contribute to reconciliation in structured, relevant, and respectful ways.

"Our progression to an Innovate RAP demonstrates our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and our determination to make a genuine difference," said Kinetic Managing Director (Australia) and RAP champion Matt Campbell.

"From creating employment opportunities to enriching cultural diversity and understanding, we recognise our position to influence meaningfully, and we're excited to explore every possibility.

“Our Innovate RAP deepens our commitment to making Kinetic an employer of choice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ensuring that our services, partnerships, and workforce reflect and support the communities we serve.”

A key commitment of the Innovate RAP is Kinetic expanding its 'Moving the Mob' program, which focuses on creating sustainable employment pathways for First Nations peoples within the transport industry.

Developed in consultation with community and employment organisations, the program is live across North Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria, with Kinetic committing to expanding the program nationwide in its Innovate-level RAP.

The RAP also reaffirms Kinetic’s commitment to learning from and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This includes working with local communities to develop cultural training for Kinetic staff, and supporting community groups and causes that drive economic empowerment, education and positive health outcomes across First Nations communities.

"Listening to First Nations voices is essential to shaping our reconciliation journey,” said Mr Campbell.

"We’re immensely grateful to the communities and individuals who continue to share their culture, wisdom, and guidance with us."

To commemorate the launch, Kinetic has added a second specially wrapped bus to its fleet, featuring a bespoke reconciliation design created by ingeous studios, a Cairns-based design studio supporting Indigenous youth in creative careers.

The contemporary Indigenous design describes the work Kinetic is doing to bring awareness and change in understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through its connections and activities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The new bus joins the first reconciliation-themed vehicle that was unveiled during the company's Reflect RAP launch in 2021 in Cairns (Gimuy), Queensland.
