Kinetic has this week delivered on its growing commitment to communities in Western Australia with the commencement of additional government-contracted bus services in Perth.

As part of its long-term investment in the state, Kinetic, which is a leading provider of contracted urban, school and charter bus services across Australia and New Zealand, has added the school services to its local operations in the city’s south-east through acquisition.

The announcement supports Kinetic’s continued progress in the west and expands its contracted services with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia delivering transport infrastructure.

It follows Kinetic’s acquisition of Perth company Dingo Bus last year, adding to a growing network of government-contracted bus services supporting local communities.

The company’s local operation also includes a leading charter bus offering supporting school, tourism, corporate and resources markets, bolstered with the arrival of a brand-new fleet of coaches in 2022.

Kinetic’s Executive General Manager Western Australia, Sarah Ismail, said Kinetic was committed to growing its partnership delivering essential services to the community.

“As a market leader, we’re driven by our desire to provide safe, reliable and sustainable bus services, and Perth is an important region in our strategy where we believe we can bring significant value to local communities through investment and innovation,” Ms Ismail said.

Kinetic is one of Australia’s largest bus operators with long-term commitments supporting communities in partnership with Queensland, New South Wales, Victorian and Tasmanian governments.

Kinetic has been the custodian of Melbourne’s Metropolitan Bus Franchise since 2022, operating a third of the city’s bus network. In that time the company has transitioned two key depots to power a growing fleet of zero emission buses and doubled the number of female drivers in its workforce.

The company is also the largest operator of zero emission buses (ZEBs) across Australasia with more than 250 electric buses in its network. Kinetic’s team in Auckland is currently undertaking the region’s biggest transformation project having completed significant electrification upgrades at four depots as it introduces 152 electric buses in partnership with Auckland Transport.

“Our long-term plans for Western Australia are to expand our partnership delivering bus services that communities can rely on and be proud of, and I’m proud of what the team has achieved in the last two years establishing a local platform to allow for this,” Ms Ismail said.

“We’ve made significant investments in our fleet, depot and people. As we focus daily on service delivery, there are further acquisitions we have in sight which complement our strategic plan and provide further opportunities for our people in this exciting sector.”
