As Australia recognises National Volunteer Week (19-25 May), we're proud to highlight how some of Kinetic’s Australia-based team members are making a difference in their communities through meaningful volunteer work.

At Kinetic, our commitment to community connection and care extends beyond our professional roles. Our team members consistently demonstrate their passion for giving back, embodying our company values in remarkable ways. This National Volunteer Week, we're honoured to spotlight just a few examples of how our team is creating positive impact through volunteering.

Creating inclusive sporting opportunities

Justin Russ, Specialist Planner at Kinetic, serves as a volunteer coach for the Gold Coast Titans’ Inclusion LEAGUEABILITY program. This adaptive rugby league program is designed to create opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in the sport.

"LEAGUEABILITY fosters a community that promotes genuine engagement, opportunities, and inclusivity while raising community awareness about inclusive actions in sport," Justin explains.

"Players have the chance to play matches across the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers, including games at Cbus Super Stadium."

Now in his second season with the program, Justin finds the experience immensely rewarding.

"I leave every training session with just as big if not a bigger smile as the players," he says.

"Being part of this program is an amazing privilege. One of my favorite aspects is playing alongside the players during matches, helping provide game structure and guiding their decision-making.

“We create an inclusive environment where we're all one team and, in a greater sense, a community family."

Kinetic is proud to be a title sponsor of this impactful program, furthering our commitment to creating inclusive communities.

Bringing companionship to aged care

Melissa de Gier, Senior Specialist in Customer Experience, volunteers as a Visitor in aged care. Her role involves being a mate and companion to someone without family or regular visitors.

"My friend Ruth is in her 90s, with slight vision impairment and hearing challenges," Melissa shares.

"It's about building a genuine connection, bringing comfort, conversation, and companionship into her life."

For the past three months, Melissa has visited Ruth weekly, sometimes more frequently when possible.

"Seeing the joy on Ruth's face when I walk into the room makes it all worthwhile," she says.

"Whether it's a simple check-in about her day, enjoying a cuppa together, doing arts and crafts, sitting in the garden, or playing bingo—these little moments mean the world to her."

Melissa's passion for this work shines through in her advice to others considering volunteering: "Just start. You don't need special skills, just a kind heart and willingness to give your time. Volunteering, especially with the elderly, is incredibly humbling and fulfilling. It not only changes the life of the person you're helping but also brings you so much purpose and perspective."

Anyone can make a difference

These stories represent just a small sample of the many ways Kinetic team members are contributing to their communities.

National Volunteer Week serves as Australia's largest annual celebration of volunteering, highlighting the crucial role volunteers play across the country. At Kinetic, we're proud to support our team members' volunteer efforts and encourage others to find their own meaningful ways to contribute.
