Kinetic New Zealand maintains internationally recognised ISO standards following annual compliance audit

Kinetic New Zealand has successfully maintained certification to three internationally recognised ISO standards following its latest annual compliance audit, reaffirming the strength of the systems, processes and governance that support the delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable public transport services.
The audit was completed across Kinetic's Head Office, Higgins Road depot and workshop in Hamilton, and the City depot and workshop in Auckland, with all sites continuing to meet the requirements of:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management
Maintaining certification requires independent annual audits to ensure systems and operational practices continue to meet internationally recognised standards for quality, environmental management and workplace health and safety.
Kinetic New Zealand Group Manager HSEQ & Compliance, Lizbe Fourie, said maintaining certification wasn't about passing an annual audit, but about demonstrating a sustained commitment to continually improving the way the business operates.
"Maintaining ISO certification is about much more than successfully completing an annual audit. It's independent confirmation that the systems, processes and culture supporting our operations continue to meet internationally recognised standards. This year's result reflects the commitment of our people across Hamilton and Auckland to continually improving the way we work and the pride they take in delivering safe, high-quality public transport every day."
This year's surveillance audit was conducted over six days, reviewing Kinetic New Zealand's management systems, governance, operational processes and workplace practices across the certified sites.
The audit recognised significant improvements made since last year's assessment, including strengthened document management, worker engagement, chemical management, procurement and tender processes, along with improved communication across the business.
Importantly, the audit identified no findings and only one opportunity for improvement. The auditor also recognised the progress made over the past 12 months, commending both leaders and frontline employees for their commitment and willingness to continually improve the way the business operates.
Hamilton's Higgins Road depot and workshop formed a key part of this year's surveillance audit, with a range of local initiatives helping strengthen safety, quality and environmental management over the past 12 months.
Recent improvements have included upgrades to spray booth safety, strengthened emergency preparedness, enhanced chemical management processes, improved environmental controls to protect stormwater systems, and practical initiatives such as improved reverse parking visibility for staff. Together, these improvements demonstrate how continuous improvement is embedded into everyday operations across the site.
Central North Island HSEQ & Compliance Manager Andrew McFayden said the Higgins Road team had embraced continuous improvement by focusing on practical initiatives that make the workplace safer and strengthen day-to-day operations.
"The audit is really a reflection of the work our teams do every day. We've spent the past year strengthening everything from emergency preparedness and chemical management through to environmental controls and site safety. Those improvements weren't implemented to achieve certification, they're about making our workplace safer, supporting our people and continually improving the way we operate. It's something everyone across our Higgins Road depot and workshop should be proud of."
Alongside Higgins Road, Auckland's City depot and workshop also successfully maintained certification, reinforcing Kinetic's commitment to embedding consistent operational standards across multiple New Zealand operations.
Maintaining internationally recognised ISO standards is an important part of Kinetic's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. Through regular independent audits, the business continues to strengthen the systems, processes and culture that support the delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable public transport.
Kinetic will continue maintaining certification across its existing sites while progressively expanding the programme to additional New Zealand operations as part of its ongoing commitment to quality, safety and environmental management.
