Kinetic in New Zealand, the company behind Baybus services in the Bay of Plenty, has celebrated the achievements of its people at their recent Tauranga Rewards and Recognition event held at their Greeton Depot and supported by the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

The quarterly awards recognise team members who go above and beyond in their roles while demonstrating Kinetic’s values of passion, respect, integrity, humility and authenticity.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of Tauranga driver, Preston Chen, who was named Urban Driver of the Quarter. Since joining Kinetic in 2020, Chen has drawn on his IT background and skills to introduce a range of continuous improvement ideas to support his colleagues and enhance their workplace environment.

General Manager Operations - Central North Island, Ranga Perumbuli Arachchige, said the awards were an important way to acknowledge the contribution of staff and the depth of talent across the business.

“People are at the heart of our business. Every day our drivers interact with hundreds of people, and together with our office and workshop teams, keep the region moving. These awards celebrate the individuals who take the extra step to ensure customers have the best possible experience.

“We’re fortunate to have so much talent across our teams, and we’re proud to be able to foster and grow individual interests, like Preston’s passion for technology, into ideas that help make Kinetic an even better place to work."

Across the event, ten award winners were recognised across categories including Rising Star, Spirit of Service and Unsung Hero, with awards presented for both the first and second quarter of the year.

The Rewards and Recognition programme reflects Kinetic’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and rewarding workplace culture. Earlier this year, Kinetic in New Zealand was recognised with an HRD 5-Star Employer of Choice reinforcing Kinetic is a workplace where everyone can thrive.
