Intercity Services - Hobart - Launceston- Devonport

Intercity Services

Kinetic is the proud operator of intercity bus services across Tasmania.  Services operate from Devonport to Launceston and Launceston to Hobart and back again.

To keep services moving on arterial roads, certain stops between Hobart and Latrobe require a booking, please consult the timetable for booking only stops. This allows Intercity services to stay on the highway unless there is a customer, making travel faster and more efficient.

New ways to manage your booking.

Demand for our intercity services is at record levels. When a booked seat goes unused, another customer misses out — often someone travelling to see family, get to work or make a medical appointment.

We're introducing more ways to manage your booking.

We’ll be asking every passenger to confirm their booking before they travel. It takes seconds, it's free, and it means empty seats go back to people who need them.

How it works

  • 48 hours before your trip we'll send you an SMS and an email.
  • Login to your account confirm your seat.

Bookings made within 48 hours of departure are automatically confirmed.

Plans changed?

Cancel any time through your account up to 2 hours before departure and free up the seat for someone else.

We also operate a standby queue at our Hobart or Launceston Transit Centres, where released seats are offered to waiting passengers before departure.

You can confirm any time by logging into your account here or calling 1300 360 000.

What you need to know

How do I know if I need to prebook?

Bookings are essential to guarantee a seat on all services.

Passengers without a booking may not be able to travel, especially during busy periods.

Passengers requiring wheelchair access need to book 48 hours in advance to ensure a wheelchair lift bus is allocated to the service. Passengers travelling with a bike should also book in advance. Call our team on 1300 360 000 to make a booking.

How early should I be at the bus stop?

Check-in or be at your bus stop 20 minutes before your bus is scheduled to depart to allow for loading and on-time departure for all passengers.

Should I hail the bus?

Yes we recommend you signal the bus driver by hailing the bus. This helps the driver identify waiting passengers.

Do buses have wheelchair lifts?

Passengers with a disability requiring wheelchair access need to book 48 hours in advance to ensure a wheelchair lift bus is allocated to the service.
