Australasia's largest bus operator, Kinetic, has extended its service footprint in South Australia's resources to support BHP's Prominent Hill mine, strengthening its position as the premier workforce transportation provider in Australia’s key mining and resources industry.

Prominent Hill, located approximately 650 kilometres northwest of Adelaide, is one of BHP's key copper operations in the region and represents an important component of Australia's minerals production.

The expansion makes Kinetic the trusted transportation partner for all BHP operations across South Australia, building on the company’s existing operations at Olympic Dam and Oak Dam, and, since September 2024, the Carrapateena site in South Australia's north.

This comprehensive coverage enables more streamlined and coordinated workforce transportation across BHP's entire South Australian footprint.

Kinetic is contracted to support transportation services at Prominent Hill, including camp-to-site transfers, airport shuttles, transportation for Coober Pedy residential workers and contingency services for both scheduled and unplanned transportation needs.

Kinetic coaches, commuter vehicles and a 4x4 recovery vehicle have been adapted with specialised mine-spec equipment to meet BHP’s rigorous safety requirements.

"Our ability to quickly respond to BHP's request for expanded services showcases our operational capabilities and dedication to our partners in the resources sector and beyond," said Sarah Ismail, Kinetic Executive General Manager (SA/NT/WA).

“It shows that Kinetic is leading the transportation industry in compliance standards and service delivery.”
