Kinetic has today announced an exciting agreement to acquire three bus companies in Murwillumbah further bolstering its operations in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Murwillumbah is a major regional centre with Kinetic to acquire Parsons Bus Company (Parsons), Murwillumbah Bus Company (MBC) and Singhs Bus Service (Singhs) which collectively operate multiple government-contracted route services and dedicated school services.

With 33 buses and 39 team members across three depots, the acquisitions will deliver a significant uplift to Kinetic’s operations in the region which currently centre on the Tweed Coast.

Kinetic Co-CEO Michael Sewards said Kinetic is excited to expand its partnership and responsibility with the New South Wales Government in this important region.

“We know the Northern Rivers and Tweed Coast is an expanding region with strong tourism credentials and we look forward to expanding our commitment to New South Wales,” Mr Sewards said.

“Collectively these three businesses have a strong reputation, and we are excited to welcome new team members from Singhs, Parsons and MBC to the Kinetic family.

“I would like to acknowledge the fantastic work that has been done by Gary and Harpal Singh and family, and Suzanne Parsons and her son Peter Parsons and wife Lara. We will continue to provide industry leading services for the community of Murwillumbah and surrounds.”

Kinetic currently operates urban and school services across the Tweed Coast from its Tweed Heads depot with a fleet of 135 buses and team of 120 employees.

Peter Parsons from Parsons and MBC said the companies have a proud history in Northern New South Wales with his father John commencing the business in 1981 and it was pleasing that Kinetic would continue with this legacy.

“We know Kinetic values safe and reliable services as highly as we do and I am pleased our drivers will continue to support the students and community of Murwillumbah,” he said.

“You will see the same friendly faces behind the wheel and the team are excited to be joining Kinetic as they grow their operations in the region.”

Gary Singh from Singh’s Bus Service said he was proud of strong community connections his team had formed in Murwillumbah, Tyalgum, Chillingham & Crystal Creek over many years.

“Our family has been privileged to transport generations of locals and we are happy that our team will continue to provide first class service to passengers,” he said.

“We know Kinetic shares our commitment to the community and we look forward to this is exciting new chapter.”

Executive General Manager for South East Queensland and Tweed, Martin Hall, said public transport provides a safe and sustainable transport option for the local community.

“We are focused on providing the community of northern New South Wales with reliable bus services that take them to the places they need to go,” Mr Hall said.

“With Kinetic having extensive operations across the Gold Coast and Tweed we are excited to bring regional synergies and the support of our broader business to these great services in Murwillumbah.”

The transaction is expected to complete on 26 February 2024 subject to relevant approvals.
